The QUEST - How to apply


Applications for the QuEST program is now open.
Deadline for application is December 31, 2017.

Please note: to receive a QuEST Award applicants must be accepted by their chosen department of study. Department application deadlines may vary and may be earlier than this date.


Who should apply?


Students who are pursuing or planning to pursue a graduate degree with a SBQMI-affiliated supervisor or co-supervisor.


The current cohort of QuEST application intake will include:


-Current or incoming students (student must be enrolled in a graduate program at UBC in September 2018)

-Canadian or international students

-Masters or PhD level students


What to do first?


Prospective students should first visit the SBQMI website to search for potential supervisors. Students should contact supervisors they are interested in working with and discuss possible projects of mutual interest. Once mutual interest has been established, please proceed to complete the QuEST application. Please note that prospective students must apply to and be accepted for admission to UBC by your home department.


Current students who are interested in applying for QuEST should discuss with their supervisor(s) how their research project will fit the objective(s) of SBQMI.

Students applying for competitive QuEST graduate student positions will need to submit the following to by December 31, 2017.


-QuEST application form

-Curriculum Vitae


For current students:

-An unofficial transcript of your current degree

-A letter (or email) of recommendation from your current supervisor


For incoming students:

-Reference letters and transcripts will be obtained from your UBC graduate application.



Previous research experience, recommendation letters and the research proposal will all be taken into consideration in addition to undergraduate or graduate marks.
